A lot can go wrong in a house that sits empty for weeks.
Tahoe is hard on homes. Winters are brutal, storms roll in fast, and fire season is real. When no one is around, small problems become expensive ones. A trained local checking in on a schedule is the difference between a quick fix and a flooded, frozen, or burned surprise.
Frozen and burst pipes
A single cold snap in an empty house can split a pipe and flood a finished basement for weeks before anyone notices.
Roof snow load and ice dams
Heavy Sierra snowfall stresses roofs and decks and forces water back under shingles. Early checks catch it before it becomes structural.
Storm and water damage
Wind, melt, and driven rain find their way in through gutters, flashing, and seals. Small intrusions turn into mold when no one is home.
Wildfire exposure
Ember zones and cluttered gutters raise risk during fire season. Regular spot-checks keep defensible space honest.
Break-ins and vandalism
An obviously empty home is a target. A visible, documented local presence and secured access points lower the odds.
Unsupervised contractors
Deliveries, cleaners, and trades come and go while you are away. Someone should be there to admit them and verify the work.

A career protecting people, now protecting your Tahoe home.
I am Christopher Eggers. I spent more than 12 years as a police officer with the Oakland and San Francisco police departments, including undercover work in some of the situations most people never see. That career built the habits I bring to every home I watch: vigilance, discretion, attention to detail, and calm under pressure. I was also a Field Training Officer and a report-writing instructor, so clear, documented reporting is second nature to me.
After law enforcement I founded and ran California-licensed security companies, building one from zero to more than 50 officers before it was acquired. While living in San Francisco I also worked in property management with Mosser, GreenTree, RentSFNow.com, and Chandler Properties, so I know buildings, vendors, and the details that keep a property in good shape. I hold an active California Private Investigator license through the state BSIS, license #189122, which you are welcome to verify. You are hiring someone who has run professional security and property operations for a living.
Most important: I am a full-time local, not a seasonal stop. My kids are in the school district, I volunteer with the PTA and serve on my own HOA, and I am invested in this community for the long haul. I know these roads in a whiteout, I know which roofs hold snow, and I know the local trades worth trusting with your home. When you hand me your keys, you are handing them to a neighbor who is not going anywhere.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. I operate as home watch and property concierge and carry my own coverage. I confirm licensing and insurance details in writing during onboarding.
What does a home check actually cover?
Every visit is a full interior and exterior walk: doors, windows, roofline, and gutters outside, and leaks, water intrusion, humidity, HVAC, plumbing, breakers, odors, and appliances inside. I also verify that alarms, cameras, and locks are working and secure.
How are reports delivered?
After each visit you get a timestamped report with photos, a checklist, and notes, sent by email or text. If something needs attention, you hear from me right away with pictures.
How do you keep our keys and access codes secure?
Keys, codes, and access details are stored securely with controlled, logged access. As a former law enforcement professional, discretion and chain of custody are second nature to me.
How do you handle privacy and discretion?
Discretion is part of the service, not an afterthought. What I see in your home stays private, I keep a low profile on your property, and I never discuss clients. I am also happy to sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before we begin, so your privacy is protected in writing.
What are your cancellation terms?
Plans are month to month. You can pause seasonally or cancel with reasonable notice. I spell out the specifics plainly in your service agreement.
How fast do you respond during a storm?
On-call clients get rapid, prioritized response. Because I live here year round, help is local, not hours away. My focus is catching and containing problems early. I do not promise to prevent every loss, but I do get eyes on it fast.
